"Inda Ku Beusin Kan Belayar" Mindset

Everytime kitani becakap pasal belayar/vacation/traveling, there's always that one universal answer yang selalu kitani dangar.

"Inda ku beduit."

You don't need to be rich to travel. I am not rich. I work at a private company and I am going to be 100% honest with you; I only earn about BND800 per month, that's about USD560. (I am an HND holder and BND800 is pretty low if ikut qualifcation. But I don't want to brag about it. Kalau kan memilih keraja, inda beusin jadinya.) But I managed to travel to South Korea on a budget. All you need is the right mindset. And also you need to make traveling your PRIORITY.

I don't get to travel that often and South Korea is the first country that I traveled to outside of South East Asia. Now it is my dream to travel the world! I am going back to Seoul in June. It will be my second visit this year!

I am writing this article to inspire biskita semua, so that you know that kitani inda perlu jadi kaya to travel the world/or go on a vacation. Below are few tips that you can follow to start saving money for your dream vacation!

1. Change Your Lifestyle.

If you are working and are planning to go on a vacation but always find yourself macam inda beduit, you seriously need to change your lifestyle. Cuba biskita list down what you spend the most with your money yang sebanarnya biskita inda perlu (except for bill telipun or loan kerita). You will be surprised on how much money you actually wasted on stuff that you don't actually need.

2. Makan Di Rumah.

I am a foodie. I love food so much! If you check my Instagram and Tumblr you will find tons of food photos, yang mostly makanan yang dari kadai/restaurant. When I already secured my air ticket to Seoul on my last trip, the next step was of course to save up some money untuk belanja di sana nanti. Seriously I had to stop makan di restaurant for a few months and I mostly makan dirumah saja.

You know us Bruneians are considered lucky because some of us we still live with our parents and inda perlu membayar rumah apa. Mun urang putih at this age (I am 25 years old by the way.) diorang sudah tinggal di rumah sendiri. Waktu kerja I tend to bawa makanan dari rumah, some that I cooked myself and panaskan saja di office. That way I was able to cut down my spending on food and get to save some money for my vacation.

3. Cut Down/Stop Minum Kupi Mahal (Coffee Beans, Starbucks, etc.)

We all love fancy and expensive coffees. I'd be lying if I said I don't buy drinks from Coffee Beans, Starbucks, etc. Nyaman bah kupinya atu! Nyaman tapi mahal. One cup will cost you around BND5-BND10++. Try to cut down kupi mahal, instead buat kupi sendiri saja dirumah. It'll save you a couple of bucks that can be use for your vacation!

4. Kurangkan Meliat Wayang.

This one is really hard for me! I am a moviegoer. I love watching movies! Otherwise Hobby Chaos wouldn't exist if it isn't for my love for movies apa. Watching movies at the cinema can be really expensive. Some will cost your around BND9 (Especially movie yang blockbuster.) Few months before flying to Seoul, I had to cut down watching movies at the cinema. I only watch movies that I really want to see. Macam dulu I will watch any movies yang ada di cinema, but kan belayar punya pasal, had to kurangkan lah. Rasa jua kan save usin tu.

5. Beranti Besigup/Vaping.

I don't smoke but I used to vape! We all know smoking kills, wallet pun kepisan ulehnya. If you quit smoking, you will be able to save some money for your trip. I understand sigup murah masani, ERA saja harganya $2. But at least try to stop, kalau bukan for your health, do it for the sake of traveling!

Let's move on to vaping. Vaping is really expensive compared to smoking. I used to spent BND300 on vape and juices. Juice lagi harganya BND10+. Payah kan belurih yang below BND10. I had an on and off relationship with vaping. But a few days before flying of to Seoul, I decided to sell my vape and quitting for good! You should do it too kalau banar-banar kan belayar on a vacation.

6. Sell Your PS3/PS4 (If you have one).

Okay ani pun payah for me. I love playing video games. I still have my PS3 and PS4 at home. The problem with this hobby is its really expensive! A newly released game can cost up to more than BND80! I am currently still considering to sell my PS3 and PS4 and use the money to buy a proper camera for blogging/vlogging purposes.

7. Buat Seperate Account - Khas Untuk Traveling.

Everytime biskita dpt duit, try to save the money on a seperate account. Jangan dipakai duit atu untuk berbelanja and only use it bila biskita kan belayar. Thats what I do. Kalau biskita simpan di account yang sama, tepakai saja tu duit atu. Trust me lol

8. Bali Ticket Awal - Do It As Your Motivation To Start Saving

Okay yang ani inda temasuk on the list of ways to save up your money but trust me this final method actually helps! Bila sudah ada ticket, you will feel more motivated and semangat kan menyimpan duit. Because memang confirm sudah kan belayar. I used this method last time and I am using it again for my trip in June. I already secure the air ticket to Seoul, now all that is left is to save up some money!

Simply changing your lifestyle will allow you menyimpan usin untuk biskita belayar especially if you are traveling on a budget. Those tips that I share with you really works pasal I used them sebelum belayar ke Seoul last month. If I can do it, biskita pun buleh tu! In sha Allah.

Baru jua last year diorang buka if I'm not mistaken. Click HERE to view EID Korea Restaurant in Bangi punya Instagram page!

Restaurantnya ani payah sikit mencari. We end up betanya arah this one lady yang makai shawl yang kami pikir Orang Melayu but rupanya Korean Muslim! Her name is Maryam and she showed us the way to the restaurant yang locationnya atas bukit. Macam hiking rasanya kan mengaga restaurant atu.

By the way Maryam noona ani mualaf, she married a Pakistani kali and ia sama husbandnya ada halal restaurant di Itaewon tapi kami inda sampai mengaga restaurantnya. Insya Allah my next trip in June kami kan cuba singgah sana nanti!

Akhirnya sampai jua kemari lol

Lapas kanyang makan di EID, on the way turun we saw this little restaurant yang menjual Halal Burger and Pizza! Bukan sanang kan belurih pizza and burger yang halal di Seoul ani so we decided to stop by and membali! Macam inda pandai kanyang kan? lol

These two items really caught my attention; Bulgogi burger and bulgogi pizza! So decided to tapau 2 items ani.

Sadly the burger and the pizza were... meh. Biasa saja rasanya.

Seoul Day 4: Makan Halal Restaurant, Locks of Love, Namsan Tower & SSENToy Museum

On our fourth day in Seoul we decided to visit Namsan Tower. We decided to go there at 4:30pm so we could stay a couple of hours to see the city at night dari atas Namsan Tower.

Since Namsan Tower located around Itaewon kami makan lunch lah dulu disana! This was our second time in Itaewon, first time kami sini masa kana bawa makan oleh Brunei Embassy! πŸ˜„

To get to Itaewon from Gangnam, kami pakai subway and this was our first time memakai subway and kami sasat sedikit! Maklum second and third day disini kana sediakan transport. Luckily we met this Korean guy yang keraja arah station atu and ia menulung kami menulus subway ke Itaewon πŸ˜‚

Bagi yang balum tau, Itaewon is very well known as a multi-cultural district. Masa kami sampai disini strangely macam bukan di Korea rasanya pasal there were so many foreigners! It is also a popular area for residents of Seoul, tourists, and U.S. military personnel.

Many restaurants serving international dishes are in this area including cuisine from India, Pakistan, Turkey, Thailand, Germany, Spain, Italy, England, France and Mexico — foods that are not widely available in Korea and tampat ani jual famous pasal banyak tampat makan yang halal disini and Itaewon is also the location where Seoul Central Mosque is located!

Sebanarnya plan kami kan makan arah Eid Halal Korean Restaurant tapi tutup tia jua every Monday. So kami aga lah saja arah one more place yang famous jua kana recommend oleh ramai orang; Makan Halal Restaurant namanya!

The Menu

These were what we ordered;

And this one right here is my favorite!

Lapas kanyang makan barutah kami menuju ke Namsan Seoul Tower. Kami kesana dari Itaewon makai taxi, it took less than 10 minit sampai kesana and it only cost around BND8 saja!

A post shared by Hanif Hidayat (@haneeeeep) on

To get to Namsan Tower mesti makai cable car which cost BND11. Once sampai di atas, the first place that I went to was of course the Locks of Love! 😝

The Locks of Love is a very romantic place. Banyak couple yang begambar disni ani. And ada jua vendor yang bejual Locks untuk siapa-siapa yang kan mau membuat initials durang which I did! 😝 I wrote me and my crush's initials. Jadi tah πŸ˜‚

The purpose of love locks ani they are a symbol of love and commitment. Typically the couples' names or initials are inscribed on the padlock, and its key is thrown away to symbolize unbreakable love. Cematu lah πŸ˜‚

Namsan Tower at night. Sorry for the ugly photo!
A post shared by Hanif Hidayat (@haneeeeep) on

One of my favorite place di Namsan Tower ani was of course the Toy Museum!

Seoul Tips: Cara-Cara Memakai Subway & Seoul Subway App

Seoul Subway Map. Click HERE for larger version.

If you have read my previous post on how expensive taxis can be in Seoul then you will know that the cheaper alternative to use transportation in Seoul is to use the train/subway! In this post I am going to share with ways on how to use the subway (More like sharing a video from YouTube πŸ˜‚), also I would like to apologize to one of my reader yang betanya cemana kan memakai subway atu cause I'm having trouble kan meng-explain πŸ˜‚

Below is a video uploaded by YouTube user TheTravelingKimchi on How To Use Seoul's Subway:

The Seoul Subway App is an app that you must have on your phone time di Seoul! This app has proven useful masa kami di Seoul, banyak information buleh kitani dapat, macam when is our next stop, location-location yang kan di aga and banyak lagi lah! The app is available on App Store and Google Play.

Another video by TheTravelingKimchi on How To Use Seoul Subway App!

To be honest, masa first time kami memakai subway ada sasat lah sekali. Bukan pulang sasat sampai turun arah location lain, just salah Line saja. After a couple of times memakai subway biasa tia sudah. Macam nada ganya lapas atu, apa nya urang, cacah cabur naik subway ani. πŸ˜‚

Day 3 in Seoul - Hanging Out with K-Pop Artist, Gwanjang Traditional Market, and Korea Cakap Melayu in Insa-dong Street!

How often do you get to hang out with a K-Pop artist? Jarang kan? On our third day in Seoul, we get to hang out with a K-Pop artist! She's my cousin, Putri Norizah's friend. Lucky right? By the way, her name is Beige! Kenal? Kalau biskita minat meliat K-Drama, confirm biskita kenal ia ani siapa.

Photo Via Han Cinema

Bagi yang inda kenal, si Beige ani famous for the song Because I Miss You from the drama Moonlight Drawn by Clouds. She also made a cameo in the drama Secret Garden.

This one right here is my personal favorite, "Your Song" from the soundtrack "Five Children".

Gwangjang Market (κ΄‘μž₯μ‹œμž₯)

Beige picked us up around 1pm at our guesthouse and she brought us to Gwangjang Traditional Market. The market is South Korea’s first market and continues to thrive as a popular tourist destination today. The second floor of the market provides all of your silk, satin, and linen bed-sheet stores, which are the largest and most famous in Seoul. Many of the stores in the area even have their own factories supplying fabrics to the Namdaemun Market, Pyoung Hwa Market, and even to some department stores. Even though the goods are not brand-name products, the wide selection of high quality goods at inexpensive prices makes it an enjoyable shopping experience. Via Visit Korea

Beige as our tour guide!

Gwangjang Traditional Market ani sama macam Tamu Kianggeh kitani disini. Macam-macam ada bejual disini. From Korean traditional food and delicacies, to kain-kain and pakaian traditional bisdia. We also get to try some of their food, kana belanja oleh si Beige! 😝

Nokdu Jeon/Mung Bean Pancakes. Crispy and it has a sweet and savory taste!

Ani confirm orang tau. Tteokbokki - made from soft rice cake, fish cake, and the sweet red chili sauce called gochujang (a savory, spicy, and pungent fermented Korean condiment made from red chili, glutinous rice, fermented soybeans, and salt.)

This one right here is Eomukguk/Korean Fish Soup. The fish cake NYAMAN! The soup was really spicy but I like it!

Thank you for the treat Beige! 😍

Insa-dong (인사동)

Lapas dari Gwangjang market, Beige brought us to Insa-dong. Disana kami tejumpa Korean yang pandai cakap Melayu!

Insa-dong, located in the heart of the city, is an important place where old but precious and traditional goods are on display. There is one main road in Insa-dong with alleys on each side. Within these alleys are galleries and traditional restaurants, teahouses, and cafes. Every Saturday from 14:00 to 22:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 22:00, the main street is blocked off from traffic and it becomes a cultural space. Stores set up booths outside and Korean candy merchants and fortune teller stalls can easily be found; there are traditional performances and exhibits as well. Insa-dong is especially popular among foreign tourists. This is where they can experience and see traditional Korean culture firsthand, and also purchase pieces of fine art. On the street you can eat Korean taffy and traditional pajeon (Korean pancake), and see many foreigners lost in all the joyous festivities of the street. Via Visit Korea

Enjoy the video that I took when we were in Insa-dong.Kami tejumpa orang Korea pandai bekurapak Melayu!

The snack yang that Korean guy made in the video is called Honey Candy. I didn't catch its Korean name. It is made out of honey which turned into around 16,000 strings and filled with peanuts as its fillings. Very sweet treats and we all like it and ended up buying 10 boxes of the snacks lol

After strolling around Insa-dong Beige brought us to try traditional Korean tea and delicacies, which was perfect for the cold weather!

Beige showing me some of the traditional Korean tea available on the menu. Too bad I didn't catch the name of the tea shop!

Korean Traditional Plum Tea. A little to sweet for me. The one behind the tea is a snack made of rice cake and honey! Koreans do use a lot of honey in their recipe.

This is called Yakgwa. Yakgwa is traditionally made of honey, sesame oil, and wheat flour. Recently, Yakgwa has been manufactured by corporations that add more ingredients in order to improve the taste of the biscuit. Rasanya macam kuih lidah disaluti madu. Luan-luan sama rasanya! We ordere few boxes of this untuk dibawa balik ke Brunei pasal nyaman.

One with Beige! 😍

After having the tea Beige brought us strolling around Gangnam city which you can see from the video that I shared above!

Had Ice-Cream in the winter time sajuk-sajuk. Kana liat-liat tarus. Either kana ucap kabal, atau gila. πŸ˜‚

After strolling the city we went home. Sorang-sorang sudah lalah and kanyang and ada yang selisma lapas makan ice-cream (me)! Nasib si Beige membalikan ubat. Alhamdulillah esoknya baik! The ubat was really strong and effective but really pahit rasanya.

The fourth day kami semua ke Namsan Tower! Stay tune for my post!

You can follow Beige on Instagram and Twitter: @beigeluv

Day 2 in Seoul - Lunch with Brunei Embassy, Masjid di Seoul, Lotte World and K.A.R.D LIVE!

Although my first day in Seoul felt like a disaster, the rest of our trip macam satu rahmat rasanya! Alhamdulillah.

The second day of our trip, Brunei Embassy in Seoul membawa kami makan! She happen to be my Aunty's close friend and we contacted her and kana offer makan tarus at a Pasha Cafe, a Turkish Halal Restaurant in Itaewon.

We had lunch buffet and the food were lovely! Lovin all the food especially the chicken kebab! So tender and juicy! I didn't ask for the price though pasal kena belanja oleh Brunei Embassy! 😝

One with Aunty Ros and her family! Thank you so much for the treat Aunty! 😊

My baby cousin Adelya with Aunty Ros' youngest son Arif!

Babies are soo adorable! 😍

After we finished our lunch, Aunty Ros membayarkan kami van and a driver for a day untuk membawa kami jalan-jalan! We were so happy and thankful for her kindness! By the way, the van cost about BND200 and ia membawa jalan-jalan kemana saja kami mau! πŸ˜‚

Of course alang-alang sudah di Itaewon, kami minta bawa ke masjid, and the only masjid yang ada di Seoul is the Seoul Central Mosque!

Located in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu in Seoul, the Seoul Central Masjid was the first Islamic mosque in Korea. Construction of the mosque began in October 1974 on a piece of land (5,000 square meters) that was donated by the Korean government. Funded by the Islamic countries, the mosque officially opened on May 21, 1976 and now stands proudly halfway between the Hangang River and Namsan Mountain. Via Visit Korea

Below is a video of the masjid uploaded on YouTube by Anwar H. Freeman

Selepas selesai di masjid Seoul Central kami minta bawa ke Lotte World to have a bit of fun! Kalau orang yg minat RUNNING MAN confirm biskita kenal Lotte World ani. Tempat durang filming their first episode (According to my cousin lah. I'm not a big fan of the show πŸ˜‚)

According to Guiness World Record, Lotte World is consists of the world's largest indoor theme park, an outdoor amusement park called "Magic Island", an artificial island inside a lake linked by monorail, shopping malls, a luxury hotel, a Korean folk museum, sports facilities, and movie theaters!

Terus terang kalau sehari memang inda cukup sini ani. Basar banar tempatnya!

Harga ticket di Lotte World ani untuk one day admission is 41,000won, about BND50 for orang basar, and ticket untuk kanak-kanak cost 32,000won, around BND40.

The amusement park is so huge that I did not get to explore all of them! Lagipun pasal kami kesini in the afternoon and sorang-sorang sudah ngaleh after jalan-jalan and inda sanggup lagi so we decided to go home saja. Perhaps I'll come back here on my next trip in June 2017!

For now enjoy the short video that I made during our trip to Lotte World;

Sebelum kami balik, we got so lucky pasal we get to watch K.A.R.D performing LIVE di Lotte World. Diorang ani group K-Pop yang baru start last year if I'm not mistaken. First time dangar live and I am already in love with the group! Below is a video that I captured when they perform their song "Oh NaNa".

Way to end  my day! A free live performance by a K-Pop group! lol

Their original music video;

Find out which K-Pop artist that we hanged out with on my next post! Stay tuned! 😝
